Best Time to Go to Verona

The best times of the year to go to Verona are from late May through early October. If you're looking for a less crowded scene, spring and fall are best.

The Verona Arena Opera season is June through August, the best time to visit for evening performances. The Roman era amphitheater called Arena di Verona is a spectacular venue to see opera; tickets can be easily purchased before your trip from Select Italy: Arena di Verona Tickets. If you just want to see the space, you can walk up and buy visitor tickets and tour the arena during the day when there are no performances..

Where to Stay

Verona is a very romantic city (we have a little video called Romantic Verona to bring this point home). Couples will want to stay in the center and enjoy walking and wandering in the evenings. If you're in for a splurge, this is the city in which to let the purse strings loosen.

The highly rated Opera Relais de Charme in in the old city, 500 feet from the arena, offers self-catering accommodations with free Wi-Fi. They'll help you with reservations and tickets. Each room is inspired by famous operas.

Less expensive is the Best Western Hotel Armando, a three star hotel in a central location.
