Trekking in the Lunigiana · Sep 19, 05:17 PM by James Martin

S.T.E.L. (Sistema Turistico Escursionistico Lunigiana) is a new way to traverse the Lunigiana by foot. There are currently 10 paths in the system.

The routes include 22 castles, as well as small country churches, sanctuaries and convents. The Lunigiana countryside is quite different than other places in Tuscany or nearby Liguria.

I often hike in November, where the patient hiker is rewarded by some astounding skies in between (usually short) rains. Other folks who know the trails actually recommend January for its crystal clear days.
